The
mission of "Loaves and Fishes, Too" is expressed in the
acronym FEED:
F
eed the hungry
Enlighten the public
Empower guests and volunteers
Develop human potential for the sake of change and
justice
"Loaves and Fishes" coordinates the work of
10,000 community volunteers for the purpose of providing free evening
meals to poor and homeless people in the St.Paul/Minneapolis area.
Meals are offered five nights a week at five congregate dining sites.
Volunteers at these sites serve approximately 1,450 guests.
In addition to offering a substantial meal each
weeknight at six dining centers in the Twin Cities, Loaves and Fishes
Too creates a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
Our aim is to treat everyone with respect and dignity.
Anyone in need of food or hospitality is welcome here, no questions
asked. Volunteer serving teams are recruited from area churches,
synagogues, corporations, businesses, service clubs and community
groups.
Our church is partnered with the site at Bethlehem
Lutheran at 2200 Fremont Avenue North in Minneapolis. This site
provides meals Monday through Friday and averages 200 guests per
night. The Bethlehem site utilizes 42 serving teams. If you wish
to be involved, contact Sharon Artmann.
